Penis suits, sex dolls banned from bachelor and bachelorette parties in Spanish town Costa Brava. Here's why

A popular tourist spot in the Spanish town of Costa Bravahas banned penis suits and sex dolls from bachelor and bachelorette parties, introducing fines of up to €1,500 (approx $1,625).

Platja d'Aro, which is in the middle of Costa Brava, announced that it has banned "clothing representing human genitals", with mayor Maurici Jiménez even saying that he would put a ban on bachelor and bachelorette parties altogether if he could.

He said that the new law bans people from appearing "on the public thoroughfare without clothing or only in their underwear or with clothing or accessories representing human genitals or with dolls or other accessories of a sexual nature".

According to the mayor, "These attitudes have an impact on the community's coexistence and we need to fight against them."

The authorities have said that those who would flout the bans would face fines ranging from €300 (£255) to €1,500 (£1,275).

Platja d’Aro is quite a famous destination for pre-wedding celebrations with people flocking there to celebrate brides-to-be and grooms-to-be and their weddings.

A report by The Olive Press mentioned that this seaside town can attract up to 300,000 visitors per weekend.

As quoted by local reports, Jiménez stated that sometimes such celebrations "exceed" acceptable norms and the newly formed rule aims to address this by limiting visitor numbers.

Media reports mentioned local police commander David Puertas recalling a recent bachelor party event in which the groom was tied to a lamppost in the middle of the street while loud music played. The incident was upsetting for the neighbours.
