A 19-year-old Palestinian man shot dead by an Israeli army soldier during clashes carried out due to raid in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry said on Saturday.
The man was shot in the head and critically wounded before he was pronounced dead at a hospital in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The health ministry identified the dead man as Ahmad Abu Obeid, 19.
The Israeli army had carried out a military campaign in the Jenin area on Saturday seeking to arrest Palestinians reportedly involved in killing an Israeli rabbi in January.
An Israeli military spokesman confirmed the campaign in the Jenin area and said that the army arrested a number of suspected Palestinians and took them in for questioning.
Raziel Shevah, a 35-year-old rabbi, was shot dead near Havat Gilad, a wildcat Jewish settlement outpost in the Nablus area, on January 9.
The army has since launched multiple violent raids to search for the suspected killer, 22-year-old Ahmed Jarrar.
Jarrar is the son of Nasser Jarrar, a member of Islamist militant movement Hamas who was killed while fighting Israeli forces during the second Palestinian intifada.
The army did not say if he had been caught during the raid.
