Former Pakistan prime minister and Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khansustained bullet injury on Thursday when unidentified assailants opened fire on the container-mounted-truck on which he was travelling as part of his Haqeeqi Azadi march near Zafar Ali Khan chowk in Wazirabad in Pakistan's Punjab province, media reports said.
The incident occurred near Allahwala Chowk of Wazirabad town of Punjab.
video footage of Geo TV footage showed that 70-year-old Khan was hit in the right leg.
According to sources, unidentified assailants opened fire on PTI chairman Imran Khan’s container, and his close aides namely Imran Ismail, Faisal Javed were among those injured.
An earlierreport in Dawn said, four people including one of Imran Khan's managers were injured in the firing at the ongoing march. Imran Khan was reported to be safe and having left in his bullet proof car, though some reports claimed that his bandaged leg could be seen while he was being transferred from his container vehicle to his car.
It was the seventh day of PTI's long march to Islamabad from Lahore.
PTI leader Azhar Mashwani said in a tweet that party chief Imran Khan is safe and the culprit has been arrested.
