What defines Kim jong-un is not just mystery, but also flamboyance. The leader's lifestyle is the opposite of the situation in his country.
Article 1 of North Korea's constitution refers to the country as an 'independent socialist state' Which means--- on paper-- North Korea--- is a worker's state. In reality-- it is a textbook example of absolutism. The workers are denied basic living conditions. Some of them starve to death. Dictator Kim,on the other hand, maintains an expensive appetite. His meals include --foie gras, caviar and lobsters.
North Koreans live with severe travel restrictions. No communication with foreign countries or their people. But the supreme leader cruises around in a custom-designed yacht valued at 8 million dollars. Most North Koreans live in poorly-maintained houses while Kim is spoilt for choice. He owns 17 palaces and a private island.
A majority of North Koreans have very little disposable income, Kim, on the other hand, has a personal collection of luxury watches that cost upwards of 8.2 million dollars. He also fancies expensive gifts -- be it for his wife, or other members of his family. Kim also spends a fortune on golf, private basketball matches and racehorses. Most North Koreans don't have cars. Theyrely on ox or horse-drawn carts but the dictator reportedly owns as many as 100 luxury cars. His armoured Mercedez Benz costs 1.7 million dollars.
Kim also owns a private jet and3 dozen pianos.Each costs upwards of sixty thousand dollars. The North Korean leader is all about pomp, glory and excess.
