North Korea held a mass rally on Saturday in Pyongyang to celebrate its leader Kim Jong-un's re-election as Chairman of the State Affairs Commission at First Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) earlier this week.

In a video provided by the North's official news agency KCNA, thousands of people including the state's high-ranking officials, military officers and Pyongyang citizens were seen attending the rally at Kim Il Sung Square.

North Korea's newly-named President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Choe Ryong Hae, delivered a celebration speech at the rally, according to KCNA.

During the SPA on Friday, Kim said the breakdown in talks with the United States has raised the risks of reviving tensions, and he is only interested in meeting President Donald Trump again if the United States comes with the right attitude, KCNA reported on Saturday.
