Multiple US govt websites experience brief outages; cause unknown

Multiple United States (US) government websites experienced a brief outage on Thursday night (Mar 7). In a post on X, the Department of Homeland Security said, "We are currently investigating and working to resolve an outage withhttps://dhs.govand component domains. We will restore the sites as soon as possible."

However, in a subsequent post, the department said that the issue was resolved.

Some of the websites that experienced outages included the Department of Homeland Security, the Secret Service, the Federal Management Agency and the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The cause of the outages is not yet known. However, Homeland Securityofficials said that the outages did not appear to be malicious. Search.gov, a search engine for the federal government, said a planned maintenance was scheduled on Thursday from 3 pm to 6 pm.

The outages happened during President Joe Biden'sState of the Union addressed that lasted for 68 minutes.
