Morning news brief: US to deploy weapons in Germany, Al-Baghdadi's wife sentenced to death, and more

At the NATO Summit in Washington, it has been decided that the US will deploy its missiles in Germany, starting 2026.SM-6, Tomahawk cruise missiles and developmental hypersonic weapons that have a longer range than current capabilities in Europe will be deployed. In other news,wife of slain Islamic State leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, has been sentenced to death by an Iraqi criminal court. She has identified as Asma Mohammed aka Asma Fawzi Mohammed Al-Qubaysi, the first wife of a polygamous Baghdadi.

The United States will start deploying long-range fire capabilities in Germany in 2026 in an effort to demonstrate its commitment to NATO and European defence, the United States and Germany said in a joint statement on Wednesday (Jul 11).
