Man rams car into a horde of protesters in Seattle, shoots bystander

Cities in the US have been witnessing protests against the murder of George Floyd, an African-American man who died after a police officer knelt on his neck for 8 minutes, asphyxiating him.

A lot of cities reported instances of arson, looting, and violence. Many police officers and protesters were injured in the last two weeks.

On Sunday night, one person was shot after an armed man drove into a group of protesters in the city of Seattle.

Footage circulating on social media showed the man with a pistol getting out of his car, after which protesters starting fleeing the scene.

The man then dissipated among the crowd. Police confirmed the arrest of the suspect on Twitter and claimed to have recovered a weapon

"Officers searched, but do not believe there are any additional victims," police said on Twitter.

The victim was a protester in his twenties who was admitted to a hospital after a gunshot wound.

Allegedly, the victim was shot at when he tried to approach the shooter’s car.

The protests across the US and the world calling for racial justice are also calling for reform in the police ranks, with Minneapolis going as far as planning to defund the police.

The police have used pepper sprays on protesters in multiple cities.
