An SUV, an autorickshaw... electric cars lord over Auto Expo 2018

German car maker BMW on Wednesday unveiled its hybrid vehicle i8 Roadster at the 14th Auto Expo. Unveiled along with along with a slew of other top-end models. It is the first step towards the company's move to complete electric mobility. The i8 Roadster is an open-top two- seater and it is expected to be launched in India in 2018.

The BMW i3's facelift brought a new version to the scene, the i3s. The new sporty model widened its track, tuned the suspension, propped it up on some big 20-inch wheels, boosted power to 180 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque, shaved off 0.4 seconds over the normal i3 to hit 60 MPH in 6.9 seconds, and painted this one red and black.

India's second-leading car manufacturer Hyundai Motor India Ltd unveiled its first electric vehicle in India, named IONIQ hybrid, the car is expected to be launched in India by 2019. It is a significant leap forward for the company as it intensifies its commitment to produce highly efficient, eco-friendly vehicles

Mahindra showcased a brand new SUV convertible concept base on the TUV300 compact SUV. this convertible model is named Stringer and is measured under the 4 meters length. From the headlamps to the Jeep Compass-like front grille, the car Mahindra Stinger is likely to be a TUV300 minus the hard top. As of now there is no news of the company putting this concept into production.

The e2o NXT is a refreshed version of the e2oPlus and boasts of a modified exterior and interior as well as a larger infotainment system.

The electric version of the Mahindra eKUV100 got an all-new electric powertrain. India's first electric mini SUV, eKUV100 promises to combine the benefits of an SUV and an electric vehicle. The electric motor mounted on the car boasts of a range of about 140 km on one charge, and optional fast charging which can extend its range by 80% in less than an hour.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd today showcased its flagship concept of SsangYong Rexton's model for the Indian market. Running successfully in the overseas, the company, who unveiled six electric cars at the Auto Expo 2018, unveiled its upper SUV model titled Mahindra Rexton. The car is expected to be launched with same design and is competition of the sailing SUVs.

India's leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday showcased the concept e-SURVIVOR at the 14th Auto Expo, displaying its resolve to take to the electrification transition taking place in the country. The vehicle as company's first electric vehicle which is expected to be launched in India in 2020. However, the design of the concept may change when launched.
