Louisiana Presidential Election 2024: House polls, previous elections and results; all you need to know

Louisiana US Presidential Election 2024:Louisiana, a reliably Republican state, is going to polls on Nov 5, in which millions of voters will choose whooccupiesthe White House for the next four years: Donald Trump or Kamala Harris. Trump emerged victorious in the state in 2020, with almost 58.5 per cent voters leaning towards the GOP candidate. On the other hand, Joe Biden got support from just 39.9 per cent of voters.

The winner in Louisiana will receive all eight electoral votes. On November 5, the voters will choose electors to represent the state in the Electoral College through popular vote.

Louisiana US House of Representatives Elections

The 2024 United States House of Representatives elections in Louisiana will also be held on November 5, 2024, to elect six representatives, one each from six Congressional districts.

District 1: Based in the suburbs of New Orleans, District 1 is seeing a contest between incumbent Republican Steve Scalise and Democratic Mel Manuel.

District 2: Incumbent Democrat Troy Carter is up against Devin Graham (Republican).

District 3: Incumbent Republican Clay Higgins is contesting against Democratic Priscilla Gonzalez.

District 4: It’s a high-profile seat. The incumbent is Republican and current Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. No Democrat is fighting against him.

District 5: Incumbent Republican Julia Letlow is vying against Michael Vallien Jr from the Democratic Party.

District 6: Incumbent Republican Garret Graves is up against Quentin Anderson, the Democratic candidate.

Louisiana: Past election results

Voters in Louisiana have voted overwhelmingly in favour of Republicans in three previous presidential polls. In 2020, 58.5 per cent voters voted for Trump. In 2016, above 58 per cent voters threw their weight behind Trump against Hillary Clinton. In 2012, Mitt Romney (R) received 57.8 per cent of the votes against the incumbent, Barack Obama.
