Libyan Strongman Khalifa Haftar

Libya's unity government has issued a warrant for strongman general Khalifa Haftar on Thursday. It was issued by the military prosecutor general and was published by the unity government's press office.

The arrest warrant comes after Haftar ordered for deadly air strikes against civilian areas.

The warrant also named six of Haftar's officers.

Earlier, Haftar met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to discuss the latest developments in Libya.

Haftar, who was exiled in the United States for two decades, returned to Libya in 2011 when the revolution erupted, commanding forces that eventually toppled dictator Moamer Kadhafi.
