The bodies of 29 people were found Friday following a landslide in Naga City on Cebu island in the Philippines.
Police and emergency service personnel were digging through soil and rocks to locate at least 50 people who remain missing after the landslide struck a village early on Thursday, an efe-epa journalist reports.
Rescuers found the dead amid the rubble, as well as 20 injured survivors.
A total of 14 houses were destroyed, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Around 720 people were evacuated to a nearby community centre, and government aid workers were offering relief materials, food aid and medical care.
The landslide affected an area of about 80 hectares.
Local villager Fortunato Savillano said he is sad because a few months ago he had purchased some land where he planned to build a retirement house but the landslide has destroyed it.
Though the Cebu area was not directly affected by the recent Typhoon Mangkhut, it was drenched with rains made more intense by the tropical storm.
