Iran may have been involved in attacks on Israeli embassies, claims Swedish Security Service

The Swedish intelligence agency Sapo on Thursday said that Iran may have been involved in the recent attacks on Israeli embassies in Sweden and Denmark.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Denmark police said that they arrested three Swedish nationals after two blasts happened close to the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen, likely caused by hand grenades.Moreover, on Tuesday evening, the Israeli embassy in Sweden's capital Stockholm was attacked with gunfire.

Fredrik Hallstrom, the head of Swedish intelligence Sapo, highlighted that there are indications of Iran’s involvement in these attacks.

“There are some things that could point in that direction. In part due to the choice of targets and modus operandi, but that is an assumption rather than pure knowledge,” AFP reported citing Hallstrom.

Earlier also, Iran and terrorist groups sponsored by the regime have been involved in alleged attacks on Iranian missions and interests abroad, including attacks in India, Argentina, and Georgia, which were linked to Iran.

In May, Sapo said that Iran was recruiting members of Swedish criminal gangs to commit "acts of violence" against Israeli and other interests in Sweden. However, Iran denied this claim.

Moreover, Swedish broadcaster SVT also reported that it had received information that the two latest embassy attacks had been ordered by the Swedish criminal network Foxtrot at the behest of Iran.

A Danish court allowed a four-week custody of two Swedish teenagers accused of throwing hand grenades near the Israeli Embassy in Copenhagen, according to local media.

The teenagers, age 16 and 19, were charged with possession of five hand grenades in a closed-door hearing. The two Swedes pleaded not guilty.

"Those who may have given them the hand grenades should not be told what will come out at the hearing," the prosecutor pleaded in the court.

Iran rejects G7 statement on attack against Israel as 'biased'

Iran Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, on Thursday, rejected the G7 condemnation of its attack on Israel, and said that it is "biased and irresponsible".

Iran launched over 180 missiles at Israel on Tuesday, saying that it was in retaliation for the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leaders, triggering aggression in Lebanon.

Emirates cancels flights toIran, Iraq, and Jordan

Dubai-based Emirates halted flights to Iran, Iraq and Jordan for three days over "regional unrest".

"Emirates is cancelling all flights to/from Iraq (Basra and Baghdad), Iran (Tehran), and Jordan (Amman) on 4th and 5th October due to regional unrest" with immediate effect, said the airline.

Iran summons German, Austrian envoys

Iran on Thursday summoned the German and Austrian ambassadors after their governments rebuked Iran over its missile attack on Israel, IRNA, the local media reported.

The move was in response to the “unacceptable measures” by Germany and Austria in summoning the Iranian envoys over Iran’s attack on Tuesday.

The Iran's foreign ministry said that the attack was a “legitimate, responsible and effective response in punishing the aggressor Zionist regime (Israel)”.
