As many as 15 people were publicly punished for violating Sharia law in Indonesia's conservative province of Aceh.

The violators received canings in public for adultery, alcoholism and homosexuality.

While nine people were caned 26 times for adultery, 4 people, including a woman, were caned 27 times for being drunk. Two men were caned 87 times for homosexuality.

The punishment was carried out in public outside Baiturrahim Mosque in Banda Aceh.

The violators were dressed in white and received canings by a hooded man.
