JD Vance has been picked by Trump as his running mate
Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance on Saturday (Jul 20) called on theUnited States President Joe Biden to resign and drop out of the race immediately. He also criticised Democrats asking Biden to withdraw 'without calling on him to resign' and described their stance as "an absurd level of cynicism”.
“If you can’t run, you can’t serve,” Vance wrote in a post on X. “He should resign now,” he added.
“Everyone calling on Joe Biden to *stop running* without also calling on him to resign the presidency is engaged in an absurd level of cynicism," Vance stated.
Biden is more receptive to suggestions now
Amid growing calls to withdraw from the presidential race, Biden has now become more receptive to suggestions.
Earlier, the incumbent president haddismissed suggestions that Vice President Kamala Harris wouldreplace him. Now, he is reportedly considering that option.

Some reports suggestthat Biden may call off his presidential campaignthis weekend.
This comes as ex-President Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are reportedly working to convince Biden to step down.
Harris hits fundraising trail
Meanwhile, Harris has already sprung into action and isheadlining a fundraiser in Massachusetts on Saturday (Jul 20).
Her events are now getting special attention from donors, who want to signal that they are willing to throw their support behind theVP.
Thirty-five congressional Democrats, representing more than 10 per cent of the party's members in Congress, have now publicly called on Biden to drop out.
Representative Mark Takano of California,on Saturday, became the latest Democratic congressman to ask Biden to make way for an alternative.
On Friday, Harris assured party donorsthat they were on their way to win the November elections.
"We are going to win this election," she said on a call arranged on short notice to calm donors, reported Reuters citing a person on the call.
"We know which candidate in this election puts the American people first: Our president, Joe Biden."
