President Trump today denied that he said teachers should be given guns to protect students from shooters.
"I never said give teachers guns," the president tweeted.
Trump was endorsed by the National Rifle Association(NRA) during the 2016 presidential campaign. He is seen by many in the United States as a "pro-gun" president who has close ties with the gun association. Students last week blasted Trump's alleged links with gun lobbyists after the attack at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida in which 17 people were killed.
The US president added: "What I said was to look at the possibility of giving “concealed guns" to gun adept teachers with military or special training experience."

The US Constitution protects the right of Americans to bear arms, a right fiercely defended by Republicans.
