Gunmen kidnap German nurse in Somalia's Mogadishu
A German nurse working for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was kidnapped on Wednesday evening from a compound in Somalia's capital Mogadishu, the Red Cross said today.
The attack happened around 8.00 pm local time (1700 GMT) when unidentified armed men entered its compound in Mogadishu, the Red Cross said.
Daniel O'Malley, ICRC's deputy Somalia head said the Red Cross was "deeply concerned about the safety of our colleague" and that the nurse was working everyday to save lives.
The aid organisation said it had contacted several authorities in a bid to secure the woman's release.
