Donald Trump mocked Joe Biden, who is under significant pressure due to concerns over his mental fitness after the US president made verbal slips during a high-stakes press conference.
"Crooked Joe begins his 'Big Boy' Press Conference with, 'I wouldn't have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president... Great job, Joe!" Trump said on his Truth Social site on Thursday (Jul 11).

US President Joe Biden referred to his Ukrainian counterpart, President Volodymyr Zelensky as "President Putin" before correcting himself at the NATO Summit in Washington on Thursday.
"And now I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination, ladies and gentlemen, President Putin,” Biden said.

“Going to beat President Putin, President Zelensky. I am so focused on beating Putin,” he said as a number of European leaders clapped hesitantly, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
However, Zelensky replied to Biden’s comments and said, “I am better (than Putin).”
A similar flub
When asked if he had concerns about Harris' ability to defeat Trump if she were the presidential candidate, Biden responded saying, “Look, I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president [if] I think she’s not qualified to be president.”He did not correct this mistake.
Denied reports that he said he needs to go to bed earlier
Dismissing the reports that he has asked his staff to end events earlier so he could get more sleep, he said, he never made that request. However, he did say it would be ‘smarter to pace myself a little more”.
“Instead of my every day starting at seven and ending at midnight, it would be smart for me to pace myself a bit better,” he said.
Biden also called the debate performance against Trump ‘a mistake’ and said his schedule since then has been “full-bore”.
Confident that he could beat Trump
Near the conclusion of the press conference, Biden discussed his decision to continue his candidacy, despite initially describing himself as a transitional figure in 2020, aiming to pave the way for a younger generation of Democrats.
“Others could win, but they would have to start from scratch right now,” Biden remarked.
He also maintained that he believes he remains the ‘most qualified person to run for president.’
“I defeated Trump once, and I will defeat him again,” the president said.
