Google URL shortener, a tool that facilitates easy shareability of Uniform Resource Locator (URL) or a webpage link will wind up soon, the company confirmed.

Google recently announced that its URL shortening service will come to an end on April 13. Users will now be asked to switch to app-centric Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL) or other platforms providing similar URL shortening services like Ow.ly or Bitly.

Google URL shortener or goo.gl was launched in the year 2009 and is getting scrapped in under a decade of its existence.

Existing links shortened using Google URL shortener will be redirected to the original webpage destination. The goo.gl console will be finally discontinued on March 30, 2019.
