In a readout, the White House said Biden expressed “deep condolences” for the deaths of six people in a bomb attack in a busy street in Istanbul on Sunday, underlining that “we stand with our Nato ally.”
“President Biden expressed his appreciation to President Erdogan for his efforts to renew the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which they both agreed has been critical to improving global food security amid Russia's war and that the initiative must continue,” the White House said.

According to Reuters, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov was in his room when the virtual address of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to leaders meeting in Bali began. In his address, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky told the G20 summit that now is the time to end Russia's "destructive" war and "save thousands of lives".
When, Lavrov began his speech, some of the G-20 leaders reportedly left while many remained seated.

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday asked the G20 wealthy nations to contain the fallout from interest rate hikes, as the US Federal Reserve moves aggressively to fight inflation. "Developed economies should reduce the negative spillover effects of their monetary policy adjustments and stabilise debts at a sustainable level," Xi told a summit in Bali of the 20 major economies.

The Group of 20, including Russia, will deplore the economic impact of the Ukraine conflict, according to a draft communique Tuesday, with most members also condemning the war. The draft statement, seen by AFP during a summit in Bali, will also call for the extension of a deal with Russia expiring on Saturday that allows the export of Ukrainian grain.

French President Emmanuel Macron held a bilateral meeting Tuesday with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Bali. Macron said expressed France's "willingness to give new impulse" to cooperation between France and China to resolve "great international challenges" including climate change, the war in Ukraine and economic stability.
Talks at the Group of 20 summit were beginning under the hopeful theme of “recover together, recover stronger" after the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic consequences.

Indian PM Narendra Modi at the G20 Summit this morning spoke at the session on food and energy security. He highlighted India’s efforts to further food security for our citizens. Also spoke about the need to ensure adequate supply chains as far as food and fertilisers are concerned.
"In India, in order to further sustainable food security, we are emphasising on natural farming and making millets, along with other traditional food grains, more popular," he said. He also talked about India’s strides in renewable energy.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen cancelled G20 meetings after testing positive for Covid in Bali. In his Facebook post, the Cambodian leader said that he tested positive on Monday night and that the test had been confirmed on Tuesday morning. He said he was returning to Cambodia and was canceling his meetings at the G-20 as well as the following APEC economic forum in Bangkok.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo said that the Group of 20 major economies must tackle the world's most pressing crises in his opening remarks at the leaders' summit on the resort island of Bali.
"Today, the world's eye is on us. Will we score a success? Or will we add one more failure? For me, the G20 must be successful, it must not fail," he told members at the opening of the summit.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo kiced off the G20 Summit with a warning to the members saying that the world cannot afford another Cold War.
"We should not divide the world into parts. We must not allow the world to fall into another world war," he said in remarks before the summit's first session.
