Ahead of the possible summit between the United States and North Korea, former North Korea spy chief and senior official Kim Yong Chol headed to Washington reportedly for talks with US officials, news agency Reuters reported on Tuesday.

Kim Yong Chol has been closely involved with talks with South Korea as well and his visit to the United States would further indicate preparations for the historic summit is moving ahead.
Meanwhile on Sunday also, US and North Korean officials met at a border village to resume the preparations for the first summit.
He had called off the planned summit last week citing "open hostility", from the North.
However, On Saturday Kim and Moon Jae-in held talks in a surprise meeting at the Panmunjom border truce village to ensure a successful US-North Korea summit.
On Friday Trump informed that it is back on track and it would take place on an originally scheduled date and place.
