George Clooney gives 14 of his friends a million dollars each

Everyone needs to have a friend like George Clooney in their lives. The actor, known for his impeccable films, had once given gifted his fourteen best friends a million dollars each. Not only that, but the actor also paid the taxes on the gift, so that the friends could have the entire amount to themselves.

The incident took place in 2013 but has only surfaced now after Clooney's business partner Rande Gerber spoke about it during his appearance on MSNBC’s Headliners.

Reason? Clooney wanted to thank his best buddies for being with him through thick and thin. 'The Boys' as the group refers to each other were invited over to the actor's house for dinner and were gifted with designer luggage bags that contained one million dollars in 20 bills.

“There's a group of guys that we call The Boys. George had called me and The Boys and said 'Hey, mark 27 September, 2013, on your calendar. 'Everyone's going to come to my house for dinner," Gerber said.

"'George begins to say, 'Listen, I want you guys to know how much you've meant to me and how much you mean to me in my life. I came to LA, I slept on your couch. I'm so fortunate in my life to have all of you and I couldn't be where I am today without all of you. So, it was really important to me that while we’re still all here together, that I give back. So I want you all to open your suitcases.'"

While some of his friends, including Gerber, were well to do- there were others who were in need of the money.

"One was working at a bar in Texas at the airport, trying just to support his family, rides a bicycle to work every day… I mean these are guys that took care of George and now he's giving it all back.”

Gerber had refused to take the gift but Clooney did not take it back so Gerber donated the entire amount to charity.
