Watch 'The Meg' trailer: Jason Statham chases killer shark in an adrenaline-packed film

For all those hoping for a summer vacation by the beach will be ruined for life after watching The Meg trailer as a prehistoric shark assumed to be extinct comes to life in deep waters. It’s almost like a dangerous dinosaur being found alive in a forest after ceasing to exist for millions of years.

In the trailer that released today, The Meg looks scary, meaning to kill people or anything that comes in its way. Given its size, the shark can eat a bus full of people and still be hungry. To put things in perspective, The Meg is 75-foot-long Megalodon.

Action hero Jason Statham takes up the role of killing the shark and the trailer shows his drive for some crazy stunts. But the problem is that nothing appears to hit the shark -- Statham even tries to fire underwater missiles at it and it doesn’t even flinch.

The film is made by National Treasure filmmaker Jon Turteltaub. It is based on Steve Alten’s 1997 novel Meg, a bestseller that taped-into the public’s thirst for big prehistoric monsters following Jurassic Park.

In addition to Statham, The Meg also stars Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Winston Chao, and Cliff Curtis.

The film will release on August 10, 2018.
