'Stranger Things' creator Duffer brothers sued for stealing script and idea from a short film

According to the lawsuit, Duffer brothers allegedly copied the idea from a short film 'Montauk' helmed by Charlie Kessler
Charlie Kessler has sued Duffer brothers Matt and Ross for stealing the idea for the sci-fi/supernatural series titled 'Stranger Things'from his short film 'Montauk'.
According to the lawsuit firm, Kessler claims that he had met Duffer brothers at a premiere party during the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2014, and had discussed his film and the script with them.
'Montauk' is a short film which had won an award at the Hamptons Film Festival in 2012.It was a sci-fi story which was based on a violent event that took place in the Long Island community. It dealt with conspiracy theories, secret government projects and the paranormal. A policeman haunted by his past was the key character in that movie.
'Montauk' was available for viewing on online platform Vimeo till now, which was removed for public viewing from Tuesday afternoon onwards.
Kessler alleges that until the series 'Stranger Things' was released in July 2016, he did not know that it was the mirror image of the movie 'Montauk'.
Kessler is suing Duffer brothers for breach of trust and is currently seeking monetary damages.
