Elton John biopic titled 'Rocketman' to release in May 2019

Legendary musician Elton John will soon get his biopic. Titled “Rocketman”, the living legend’s biopic will release in the theatres on May 17, 2019. 

According to reports, actor Taron Egerton will portray the role of the legend at various stages of his life -- that includes a five-decade-long career. The shooting will go on floors in August as Taron will sing some of John’s most famous compositions himself. 

The musical film will be made by the Paramount Pictures. It will be helmed by director Dexter Fletcher while the scripting is done by Lee Hall. The tone of the film will be that of a “fantasy musical” inspired by the musician’s journey to the top instead of that of a regular biopic that follows merely the events. 

The film is being produced by John himself along with Marv Films and Matthew Vaughn alongside the singer's Rocket Pictures partner and husband David Furnish.
