'Captain Marvel': Brie Larson confirms shooting wrap up

Captain Marvel will be breaking barriers as the first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film to feature a female character, as well as having hired the first female composer for any superhero movie or Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Brie Larson will star as Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who gains superhuman powers after her DNA is fused with that of an alien Kree warrior. She told the source, she took on the role because, “I couldn’t deny the fact that this movie is everything I care about, everything that’s progressive and important and meaningful, and a symbol I wished I would’ve had growing up.”

The 'Room' actress Brie Larson revealed that she trained extensively for nine months in order to build her physical strength prior to the filming. The 28-year-old actor said playing the iconic superhero was a surreal moment of her career. “A lot of my life recently has felt like it’s happening to somebody else. I think part of it is a defense mechanism. It feels better to kind of continue to have my own understanding of myself, rather than one that was put on me by the outside world,” she said.

Brie Larson will be joined by Jude Law as Mar-Vell (the alien warrior in question and Carol's mentor), Gemma Chan as Kree geneticist Minn-Erva and Ben Mendelsohn as an unknown villain character (speculated to be Kree military commander Yon-Rogg).

The film will also feature several returning characters from past MCU films. Samuel L. Jackson will return as S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury, accompanied by Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson and Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill.

'Captain Marvel' star shared a photo on Twitter confirming the end of filming for the Marvel Studios movie.

'Captain Marvel' has a release date of March 6, 2019. Marvel Studios has continued to be tight-lipped about plot details but has confirmed the film will take place in the 90's, along with confirming cast members.
