Prior to the US presidential elections, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk made a big statement that seems to align with former US president Donald Trump, who is all setto challenge the incumbent, Joe Biden.
Musk, who has been openly critical of Biden, remarked that the United States currently needs a significant Republican wave. He said if the Republican party does not succeed in the 2024 election, the future looks bleak for the country.
"I voted 100% Dem until a few years ago. Now, I think we need a red wave or America is toast," he posted on X.
On numerous occasions, Musk has criticised Biden's handling of the Southern border crisis and accused the Democrats of being "influenced by the unions".
He previously disclosed that he voted for Biden in the 2020 election but turned critical of him after Tesla was excluded from the president's 2021 electric vehicle summit.
During The New York Times Dealbook Summit in November, Musk made it clear that he wouldn't be voting for Biden, stressing that this didn't imply he would support Trump either.
Both Musk and Trump confirmed their recent meeting at a mutual friend's place, amid reports that the former US president was seeking new donors for his campaign. In an interview with former CNN host Don Lemon, Musk clarified that Trump didn't ask for financial assistance and that he wouldn't cover his legal fees under any circumstances.
"I want to make a considered decision before the election, and if I do decide to endorse a candidate then I would explain exactly why," he said.

In March, The Washington Post revealed that Trump had suggested selling his social media platform, Truth Social, to Musk. The report, based on two anonymous sources, stated that the offer was made last summer while Musk was already leading X, formerly known as Twitter.
Sources indicated that the discussions between the two were more extensive than previously understood. Trump reportedly expressed to his close associates that the owner of X should acquire Truth Social, despite the breakdown in negotiations.
