Dylan Thomas, heir to $295 million food chain, accused of brutally stabbing friend 37 times

Shocking new details have emerged in the trial of Dylan Thomas, the 24-year-old heir to the UK’s Peter’s Food Services worth Rs 2,500 crore (Nearly $295 million) who is accused of murdering his childhood friend and roommate, William Bush, on Christmas Eve 2023. Prosecutors say Thomas stabbed Bush 37 times, with 13 of the wounds focused on Bush’s neck.

The attack on Christmas Eve

The attack took place on Christmas Eve when Thomas invited Bush to his room to meet before the holidays. What followed was a brutal stabbing. Bush was stabbed 37 times, and 13 of those wounds were to his neck. As Bush tried to escape, he left a trail of blood through the house. He was killed on the patio when Thomas cut an artery in his neck. Neighbours reported hearing “screams of horror” during the attack.

Thomas had searched online for "anatomy of the neck" before the crime, as reported by the NY Post.

Bush’s girlfriend, Ella Jeffries, told the court that Thomas had expressed violent thoughts about Bush and that Bush had started locking his door at night, afraid of his roommate’s behaviour.

Thomas' mental health is a key focus in his trial. After his arrest, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Earlier in the year, he had also been detained for trying to climb the fence at Buckingham Palace. Psychiatrists disagree on whether he was mentally ill when the murder took place. Thomas has admitted to manslaughter but denied murder, so the jury must decide if his actions were planned or affected by his mental illness. The trial is still ongoing as the court reviews the troubling details of the case.
