Ex-Russian spy poisoning: Chemical weapons agency confirms UK findings

Testing by four laboratories affiliated with the globalchemicalweapons watchdog have confirmedBritishfindingson the nerve agent used in last month's attack on a former Russian double agent in England, a summary of thefindingspublished on Thursday showed.

BritishPrime Minister Theresa May said on March 12 that Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia had been poisoned with a military-grade nerve agent from the Novichok group of poisons developed by the Soviet Union in the 1970s and 80s.

Both Yulia,33, and Sergei,66, were allegedly poisoned with nerve gas by Russian agents setting off a diplomatic war between the UK and Russia which led to both countries ejecting diplomats from their country in a tit-for-tat move.

The US and several European Union countries later joined the UK in sending back Russian diplomats as the poisoning row escalated last month.
