Biden tells supporters he is 'OK' but ends up flubbing congresswoman's name in yet another gaffe

US President Joe Biden took the stage in front of Michigan voters on Friday (Jul 12), insisting that he was 'OK' for the run-in against former president Donald Trump but ended up making another gaffe.

Biden was campaigning in the crucial swing state, a day after misidentifying Volodymyr Zelensky and Kamala Harris as President Putin and Trump respectively in his public speeches.

“I promise you, I am – I’m OK,” said Biden to his supporters at a restaurant before heading to the larger rally in Detroit.

"Folks, you've probably noticed, there’s a lot of speculation lately 'What’s Joe Biden going to do? Is he going to stay in the race? Is he going to drop out? I am running and we're going to win. I'm not going to change that," he added during the main event at Renaissance High School in Detroit.

Attempting to shout outDemocrat leaderRep. Debbie Dingell -a five-term congresswoman, Biden made the error, catching flak from opponents yet again.

“Members of Congress – Debbie Haley,” Biden said.

“And by the way, I want you to know that I’ve spent a lot of time with Debbie,” he added. “She helped me a lot.”

Afterwards, Biden made comparisons of Dingell’s resemblance to his wife, First Lady Jill Biden.

“I forget which event we were at, and someone said, you’re [Dingell] his wife, aren’t you?”

Biden, who didn’t correct the gaffe, admitted much later in the event that “sometimes I confuse names".

During the last day of the NATO Summit in Washington, Biden mistakenly referred to his Ukrainian counterpart, President Volodymyr Zelensky as "President Putin"

"And now I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination, ladies and gentlemen, President Putin,” Biden said.

“Going to beat President Putin, President Zelensky. I am so focused on beating Putin,” he saidas a number of European leaders clapped hesitantly, includingGerman Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Meanwhile, Zelensky responded to Biden’s comments by stating:“I am better (than Putin).”

Later duringhis highly-anticipated solo press conference in Washington, Biden made another gaffe by referring toVice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump”.

“Look, I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president [if] I think she’s not qualified to be president,” Biden said, confusing his trusted ally with former President Donald Trump.

Later on Friday, billionaire Richard Branson also released a statement and urged Biden to ‘make the right decision’ and ‘step aside’. He stated that Biden's wish tocarry on in the presidential race hadcreated ‘a dangerous distraction' from the more important political issues.
