BBC suspends drama starring Ed Westwick post rape allegations

After two sexual assault claims against Hollywood star Ed Westwick surfaced, BBC has decided put the release of an upcoming Agatha Christie adaptation 'Ordeal by Innocence' starring the actor, on hold.

The British actor, famously known for his role in the TV series 'Gossip Girl' has also decided to take a break from the 'White Gold' series - aired on BBC in the UK as well as on Netflix - mentioned the network in a statement.

Westwickon Friday claimed that allegations were'unverified' and 'untrue' and added that the 'authorities would clear his name as soon as possible'.

A BBC spokesperson said: "These are serious allegations which Ed Westwick has strenuously denied.

"The BBC is not making any judgment but until these matters are resolved we will not include Ordeal by Innocence in the schedules.

"The independent production company making White Gold has informed us that Ed Westwick has paused from filming while he deals with these allegations."

Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick has been accused of rape by fellow actor Kristina Cohen at his apartment three years ago. Cohen claimed in a Facebook post that she was briefly dating a producer who was friends with Westwick. In the post, she said that after the trio had dinner she fell asleep in his guest bedroom and laterfound the actor on top of her.
