Another knife attack in Germany: Woman stabs and wounds six people in bus

A 32-year-old woman stabbed and wounded six people in a bus in Germany on Friday (Aug 30), just days after the deadly stabbings in Solingen that killed three people and injured eight others.

Citing officials, a report by DW said that the woman, a German national,was arrested after the attackin the town of Siegen.At least 40 people were on the bus travelling to a city festival at the time of the incident, the report said.

Three victims in life-threatening condition

Three of the six injured victims were reported to be in a life-threatening condition. An investigation was launched and the police indicated that there were no signs that this was a terrorist attack.

On social media platforms, the police appealed to people not to spread false reports about the attack.

Attacker may have been suffering from mental health issues

Though the motive of the knife attack is yet to be established, local media reported that the 32-year-old woman might have been suffering from mental health issues.

This attack inSiegen also comes days after police shot dead a man suspected of attacking passersby with knives in Moers.

Fatal stabbings and shootings are relatively uncommon inGermany. Recently, the governmentannounced a package oftighter security and asylum measures.

The package includesstricter gun regulations and ownership rules, a ban on switchblades and on carrying knives at public events such as folk festivals and sporting events.
