An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 struck Japan's northern island of Hokkaido on Friday.
While no injuries or deaths were reported from the quake, the tremorscared the residents of Atsuma where more than 40 people were killed in a 6.7 magnitude earthquake last month.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said the magnitude 5.3 quake Friday morning was centred in southern Hokkaido near Atsuma.
