India's Rice Buffer is Far Above Official Requirements

India's rice inventories have climbed to record levels in 2025 and signals better domestic food security planning. Government data shows rice stocks in state warehouses, including unmilled paddy, stood at about 57.6 million tonnes as of early december, nearly 12% higher than a year ago and far above official buffer requirements.
