Watch | 'This is golden': Pakistani journalist mistakes 'urban naxal' with 'Arab nasl'

Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir

Pakistan's senior journalist Hamid Mir misinterpreted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'urbal naxal' as 'Arab nasl' (Arabian race) and became a focus of social media jokes on X as a video of the same broadcast went viral.

PM Modi, while taking a political jibe at the Congress accused it of planning to redistribute people's property if it is voted to power, and described the grand old party as supporter of 'urban naxals'. The term is often used by BJP leaders to describe individuals they deem to be the supporters of the Left ideologies.

But Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir seemed to have confused the word 'urban naxal' with 'Arab nasl'--which means Arab race.

A clip of Mir'sshow, where he can be seen criticising the Indian prime minister, has now gone viral on social media. The video has attracted widespread attention on internet.

"Pakistan is not only in dire need of financial aid but also hearing aid," a user remarked.

"This is golden. Even a spoof content creator cannot come up with such gems! Well done Pakistan," wrote another.

"Pakistan making a desperate effort to stay relevant. Arab Nasal is exactly what the Muslims of the sub-continent are not. They have been told this multiple times but 'maante hi nahi' (they don't understand)," wrote a third user.

"Not expected this from sr journalist Hamid Mir. Now it's difficult to believe any Pakistani journalist," a fourth user wrote.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remark on wealth distribution in reference to Muslim citizens has garnered widespread attention on and off the social media. India's election commission is currently 'examining' PM Modi’s remark.

The prime minister, during a rally in Rajasthan's Banswara on April 21, claimed that Congress manifesto says they will calculate the gold owned by mothers and sisters, get information about it and then distribute that property.

“They will distribute it to whom?Manmohan Singh's government had said that Muslims have the first right on the country's assets," said Indian prime minister.
