<p>Sengar was taken into custody after intense questioning for 16 hours by a Central Bureau of Investigation team at its office on Naval Kishore Road in Lucknow, news agency PTI reported.</p>

<p>He was brought to the office at around 5 AM today, the officials said in New Delhi.</p>

<p>Earlier in the day, the Allahabad High Court ordered his immediate arrest, saying he was "influencing" the law and order machinery.</p>

<p>As the opposition upped the ante accusing the ruling BJP of shielding perpetrators of heinous crimes against women, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that no criminal will be spared and justice will be done to daughters of the nation.</p>

<p>Facing flak over the delay in taking action against the MLA in the nearly year-old rape case, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said his government will not deviate from its zero-tolerance policy on crime and that it would firmly deal with criminals, no matter how influential they might be.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police stated earlier in the day that the <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/unnao-rape-case-kuldeep-singh-sengar-arrest-will-decided-by-cbi-says-dgp--130004">arrest of the MLA would be decided by CBI after an investigation</a>.</p>

<p>The Case pertains to the alleged gang rape of a minor and the death of her father in&nbsp;police custody.</p>

Unnao rape case: CBI arrests BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar

<p>Inviting controversies over his comments on the Unnao rape case, Minister of State Human Resources and Development, Satyapal Singh said on Monday "sometimes the allegations are also proven wrong".</p>

<p>He said, " The SIT has submitted its report, strict action will be taken against guilty. I don't know how much is he (Kuldeep Singh Sengar) involved in the case, sometimes allegations are proven wrong also".</p>

<p>The police on Thursday registered an FIR against the alleged accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in connection to the gangrape of a minor girl in Unnao.</p>

<p>The case has been registered against various sections of IPC and provisions of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The MLA has been booked under IPC sections&nbsp; 376 (rape), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage,), 363 (kidnapping) and 506 (criminal intimidation).</p>

<p>Earlier in the day, the government handed over the case to the CBI. Following this an FIR was also registered against the accused MLA.</p>

<p>The MLA has been accused by a teen rape survivor who had earlier tried to immolate herself outside the chief minister's house.</p>

<p>The teen has alleged that she was held captive in a hotel room by the district administration&nbsp;with guards surrounding her. She also added that her phone was also taken.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Two policemen were suspended on Wednesday for allegedly gang-raping a minor girl&nbsp;in&nbsp;Uttar Pradesh town Kanpur&#39;s Govindnagar locality.</p>

<p>The minor, a student of 10th standard, has claimed that the policemen,&nbsp; police inspector Durga Ramkant Pandey and police soldier Praveen Upadhyay, abducted her on a motorbike and took her to a guest house where they gang-raped her.</p>

<p>She alleged they took an undue advantage of their police authority and threatened her, and later shooed her away.&nbsp;</p>
