<h2><strong>Why did DeWine veto the bill?</strong></h2>

<p>DeWine said he decided after meeting with doctors, families, and lawmakers by recognising views from all sides.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Some parents, he said, told him they weren’t sure their children would be alive today without gender-affirming treatment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"This bill would impact a very small number of Ohio’s children. But for those children who face gender dysphoria and for their families, the consequences of this bill cannot be more profound," DeWine said during a Friday press conference.&nbsp;</p>
