The Rings of Power Plot</h2>

Season 2 opens with a prelude&nbsp;of sorts where viewers are taken back in time to Second Age, where Sauron escapes a massacre led by Adar and the Orcs. We know that Sauron can take up any shape and form and from murky black water, Sauron transforms into the very human Helbrand (Charlie Vickers) and eventually rescues Galadriel from the stormy seas. With the prelude establishing how dubious and dangerous Sauron is, the season then goes on to narrate Sauron's ability to influence and seek out the rings that can destroy Middle-Earth and lead to utter darkness and doom.&nbsp; 
 
The rings become the bone of contention between friends Galadriel and Elrond (Robert Aramayo). The high king of the Elves, Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker), has already reprimanded Galadriel for not being careful about Halbrand and his real identity. While Elrond now wants the rings to be destroyed since Sauron is out there seeking them, Galadriel disagrees and wants to use the rings to fight Sauron.&nbsp; 
 
Meanwhile, Nori (Markella Kavenagh), Poppy (Megan Richards),&nbsp;and the Stranger (Daniel Weyman) continue their journey minus the rest of the Harfoot, and the Stranger's identity is only revealed near the end of the series. Their friendship and bond, however, is one of the brightest parts of The Rings Of Power. It was one of my favourite tracks in the first season and it remains so in the second season.&nbsp;

The anticipation is higher in the second season. While the initial episodes take time to establish the plot, the action and pace of the narrative pick up after the fourth episode, and you find yourself far more involved. The first season felt a bit of a drag, with each episode running over an hour. With characters more established, the second season, in a way, seems more engaging. It does take time to warm up though, much like the first season. Considering the show has multiple characters and plot lines, it takes a while to get used to the premise, even if you have followed the series from the first season.&nbsp;

The Rings Of Power Season 2 review: A definite improvement from the first season

There are new characters in the middle order. Ahead of this year's much-anticipated San Diego Comic-Con, the makers of The Lord of The Rings: The Ring of Power, revealed new details, teasing and introducing new characters joining the highly awaited Season 2 which is set to premiere later this year.&nbsp; 
 
The sprawling new additions to the JRR Tolkien adaptation include- the great dwarf Narvi (played by Kevin Eldon), an elven map-maker from Eriador- Camnir (played by Calam Lynch), elven archer from Lindon named Rían (played by &nbsp;Selina Lo) and Mirdania (played by Amelia Kenworthy) who is&nbsp;a protégé of master craftsman Celebrimbor.&nbsp; 
 
Here's a look at the new character:&nbsp; 
 
Narvi, (played by Kevin Eldon) 
 
The great dwarf, Narvi, was described by JRR Tolkien as a “craftsman," a dwarf expert in smithing, and a close friend of Celebrimbor. Together, they created the famous Doors of Durin, on the west side of Khazad-dûm.

Owain Arthur, who returns as Prince Durin IV of the kingdom of Khazad-dûm said, “He’s weaving in and out of the action throughout the season. He’s only mentioned in Tolkien’s appendices, and he’s described as a great craftsman. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay had little to go on, but I think we have successfully turned this footnote into a flesh-and-blood character. As well as being this fantastic architect, we see in season 2 that he’s also an adviser. He’s the right-hand man of King Durin.”

Speaking about his character as Narvi, Eldon said, "Narvi has an interesting journey in season 2, as the king increasingly falls under the power of the rings. These rings are getting under his skin; he’s becoming less logical and showing signs of madness. So Narvi has to make a very difficult choice about whether he obeys his instinct, which is to be loyal and to follow the king’s wishes or to abandon that very basic requirement of his life and instead show more loyalty to Khazad-dûm. He gets to a point where he has to leap one way or the other. I’m not going to tell you what he chooses, but it’s certainly a dilemma for him.”

Camnir’s (played by Calam Lynch) 
 
Camnir’s originality is unclear but he is known as an expert elven map-maker, with expertise in navigating the woods of Eriador. After unforeseen danger requires finding a new path to Eregion, Camnir’s bravery will be put to the test when Elrond’s band of warrior-elves encounters an unexpected attack on the road: The Barrow-wights.
