<p>Senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram on Sunday said that Gujarat, in reality, has worsened since BJP came to power 22 years ago.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Taking a jibe at much-touted Gujarat model, Chidambaram said that state&#39;s developmental model, which is being further examined and dissected, in a sense&nbsp;disappointed many as&nbsp;Modi failed to deliver on his &#39;extravagant promises&#39; as he failed to deliver on his grandstanding with his extravagant promises ahead of Lok Sabha polls in 2014: &ldquo;I will create 2 crore jobs every year&rdquo;, &ldquo;I will bring back black money stashed abroad and put Rs 15 lakh in the bank account of every Indian&rdquo; and so on.</p>

<p>The Congress leader went on to compare Gujarat&#39;s development figures with other states&nbsp;such as&nbsp;Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra, and stated state continues to lag behind even after all the &#39;boasting&#39;.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He acknowledged that the state has made some&nbsp;industrial progress. However, it still has a long way to go in critical areas of human development.</p>
