Government of India on Wednesday banned pro-Khalistan group The Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) an unlawful organisation for its alleged anti-national activities.

The decision was taken in a Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

&nbsp;The Union Cabinet banned it under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

The Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) pushes for Sikh Referendum 2020 as part of its separatist agenda.

The fringe group is run by a few radical Sikhs of foreign nationality in the US, Canada and the UK, a Home Ministry statement said.

Welcoming the move by Centre, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has urged the Government of India to treat the outfit as a ‘terror organisation’.
