The Government District Hospital at Mahaboobnagar performed the autopsy on the four suspects under the supervision of the Superintendent of the hospital and a forensic team of doctors from the Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad. Telangana government on Sunday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the encounter. The eight-member SIT team will be headed by Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat. The accused Mohammed Arif, Naveen, Shiva, and Chennakeshavulu were killed in the police encounter at Chatanpally, Shadnagar on December 6 morning. The veterinarian was brutally raped and killed by the accused, who burnt her body in Shamshabad area on November 27. Her charred body was recovered on November 28. (With inputs from ANI)

A petition, seeking investigation against the police personnel who were involved in the encounter of four accused in the gang-rape and murder of a veterinarian in Telangana was filed in Supreme Court on Saturday.

The petition, filed by&nbsp;Advocates GS Mani and Pradeep Kumar Yadav, also sought registration of&nbsp;FIR against the personnel involved in the encounter.

The petitioners claim that&nbsp;top court's 2014 guidelines were not followed in the case.

On Friday, all the four men who were accused of raping and killing a 27-year-old veterinarian in Hyderabad were killed&nbsp;during an encounter with Telangana police. The reports said that they were trying to escape while being taken to the crime spot during which the accused were shot dead.

On November 27,&nbsp;the lady doctor of Hyderabad was brutally gang-raped and killed by four people before they burnt her body in Shamshabad area.

The burnt body of the 26-year-old veterinary doctor was found on November 28 under a culvert on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru national highway.&nbsp;

The encounter received mixed reactions from leaders, members of the women rights groups and human rights organisations, with some justifying police action, while others claiming extra-judicial killings are not acceptable.&nbsp;

Samajwadi Party leader Jaya Bachchan called the encounter "long due", adding "better late than never".

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that the encounter should not be "condemned" until details emerge, but said that "extrajudicial killings are not acceptable in a society of laws".

National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma said that it is good that the perpetrators are dead, but said that the justice should have been done through legal channels.&nbsp;

Meanwhile,&nbsp;&nbsp;a&nbsp;team of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) arrived in Telangana earlier this morning to&nbsp;visit the encounter site.&nbsp;

The NHRC team will first visit the encounter site at Chatanpally village to conduct an inquiry where the encounter took place&nbsp;and then go to Mahbubnagar Government hospital where the bodies of the four accused are kept.
