<p>Amidst calls from a section of the party cadres for a single leader to lead the ruling AIADMK party in Tamil Nadu, the state's Fisheries Minister D&nbsp;Jayakumar said only time will tell regarding the emergence of a single leader and that it is for the crores of party cadres to decide.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Toeing the line of a letter written by the state Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam urging the cadres to stay united in order to safeguard the party, he said ''Our party and government needs to thrive and for that, we need the cooperation of our cadres''.</p>

<p>Accusing the DMK and opposition parties of trying to break the party and unseat the government, he said AIADMK won't give room for that. Breaking the AIADMK is a pipe dream, he said brushing aside the speculations regarding divisions in the ruling party.&nbsp;</p>

<p>''Until MGR and Jayalalithaa were alive they pulled the chariot that AIADMK was, but in their absence, it is our duty to carry forth their legacy and the party,'' he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Jayakumar said that the party had faced difficulties after the demise of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, but risen above them and currently possess the two-leaves symbol and has the faith of millions of party cadres.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said that the call for a single charismatic leader by MLA Rajan Chellappa was merely his opinion and was not indicative of fissures in the party.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Regarding more voices coming up in favour of a single leader he said that such internal matters should not be discussed in public and that in a party with over a crore members such fraternal differences should not be seen as divisions.</p>

<p>The minister also expressed confidence that the meeting of party MLAs and senior functionaries on Wednesday would go well and that the party would finalise its strategy to face the upcoming Local body polls.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We will win the local body polls and also the 2021 Assembly Polls”, he said exuding confidence.&nbsp;</p>
