German police have detained one person, an &quot;Islamist&quot; suspect over three explosions that struck Borussia Dortmund&#39;s team bus, prosecutors said on Wednesday, confirming that the investigation was examining a possible &quot;terrorist link&quot;.

&quot;Two suspects from the Islamist spectrum have become the focus of our investigation. Both of their apartments were searched, and one of the two has been detained,&quot; said lead prosecutor Frauke Koehle.&nbsp;Separately, national news agency DPA said a second claim of responsibility emerged online, this time possibly linked to &quot;anti-fascist&quot; far-left groups.

UEFA said that security will be tightened around Wednesday&#39;s Champions League quarter-final games following a bomb attack on the Borussia Dortmund team bus.&nbsp;There were extra forces around team hotels and their buses will take special safe routes to the stadiums.

A letter found at the scene of Tuesday&#39;s attack &quot;claims responsibility for what happened,&quot; prosecutor Sandra Luecke said late Tuesday. The &quot;authenticity is being verified,&quot; she added.&nbsp;Luecke did not give details of the letter, but media citing unnamed sources said it referred to the Berlin Christmas market attack in December that killed 12 people. The attack was claimed by the Islamic State group.

It also mentioned Germany&#39;s deployment of Tornado reconnaissance missions as part of an anti-IS international coalition, they reported.&nbsp;The assault was described by Dortmund city&#39;s police chief as a &quot;targeted attack&quot; against the team.

Borussia Dortmund bus attack: One person detained, German police probing 'Islamist link'

Rakhmat Akilov, an Uzbek, who allegedly rammed a truck into a department store in central Sweden which killed four people has confessed his crime, his lawyer said.

Rakhmat Akilov hijacked a beer truck and drove it into the Ahlens department store on Friday afternoon in Stockholm&#39;s busy shopping street.&nbsp;The attack resulted in two Swedes, a British man and a Belgian woman being killed and left fifteen injured. Eight people still remain in hospital.

Akilov&nbsp;appeared in court today and was asked by the judge early on to remove the sweater from his head but he made no comment at the start of the hearing. His lawyer, Johan Eriksson, told the court that his client had admitted the crime. The judge then ordered the hearing to proceed behind closed doors.

His lawyer later&nbsp;revealed that Akilov has described his motives to authorities, but the judge had ordered the lawyer not to discuss details of the case in public.

&quot;He has not just confessed. He has provided information, he is answering questions,&quot;

Police have said it could take up to a year to complete the initial investigation into the attack.

Authorities say Akilov has expressed sympathies with extremist organisations. Security services have said that he had figured in intelligence reports but they had not viewed him as a militant threat.

A Facebook page appearing to belong to him showed he was following a group called &quot;Friends of Libya and Syria&quot;, dedicated to exposing &quot;terrorism of the imperialistic financial capitals&quot; of the United States, Britain and Arab &quot;dictatorships&quot;.

&quot;I can confirm that a second person has been arrested,&quot; Stockholm district court judge Helga Hullman told AFP.&nbsp;

The new suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, is being investigated about a &quot;terrorist crime (by committing) murder,&quot; Karin Rosander, spokeswoman at the Swedish Prosecution Authority told public broadcaster SVT.

The prosecution has until Wednesday to ask a court to remand the suspect in custody, Rosander said.&nbsp;

A first suspect has been officially identified as a 39-year-old man from Uzbekistan and &quot;applied for a permanent residency permit in 2014&quot;, a request later rejected, police said Sunday.&nbsp;

On Friday, the 39-year-old is alleged to have barrelled a stolen beer truck several hundred metres (yards) down the bustling pedestrian street Drottninggatan in the heart of Stockholm.

The vehicle mowed down shoppers before slamming into the facade of the busy Ahlens department store.

The motive for the attack is not known.

Thousands of people were to gather in central Stockholm on Sunday for a &quot;Lovefest&quot; vigil against terrorism.
