<p>Editor of the Rising Kashmir newspaper, Shujaat Bukhari, was shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.</p>

<p>Bukhari was attacked in Press Colony in Srinagar from where he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.</p>

<p>While one PSO of the editor is also killed in the attack, another PSO is critically injured.</p>

<p>The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah&nbsp;reacted to the attack on Twitter. He tweeted, "I’m in complete shock. Hearing the worst but hoping for the best. @bukharishujaat please pull through this".</p>

<p>Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also reacted to his death on Twitter. She wrote, "Shocked & deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Shujaat Bukhari. The scourge of terror has reared its ugly head on the eve of Eid. I strongly condemn this act of mindless violence & pray for his soul to rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his family".</p>

<p>Union Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted, "The killing of @RisingKashmir editor, Shujaat Bukhari is an act of cowardice. It is an attempt to silence the saner voices of Kashmir. He was a courageous and fearless journalist. Extremely shocked & pained at his death. My thoughts and prayers are with his bereaved family."</p>

<p>Bukhari earlier worked with The Hindu newspaper as its Kashmir correspondent.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He was instrumental in organising several conferences for peace in the Kashmir Valley. He was also part of the Track II process with Pakistan.&nbsp;</p>
