It so happened that the Mumbai police received an anonymous call with a threat to the life of Shah Rukh Khan, along with a demand for Rs 50 lakh extortion, on November 7. The police traced the call to Raipur and found that the phone belonged to Faizan Khan.&nbsp;

When caught, Faizan initially said that it wasn’t him as his phone had been stolen. He told the police that he was being framed by someone.&nbsp;

Faizan Khan is a lawyer by profession. He was arrested in connection to the case on November 12. He has been placed in police custody till November 18 and then in further judicial custody for two weeks. Notably, Faizan had earlier complained to Mumbai police against Shah Rukh Khan over a dialogue in his movie Anjaam (1994) about deer hunting.

The Mumbai Police arrested Mohammad Faizan Khan, a lawyer from his residence in Raipur for making a threat call to the 59-year-old star last week and demanding Rs 50 lakh (Rs 5 million). 
 
He was arrested after he failed to appear before the Mumbai Police for questioning last week.&nbsp; 
 
Faizan had earlier said his mobile phone - which was used to make the threatening call - &nbsp;was stolen. He also said that he filed a police case on November 2.

A case against him was registered by the police under sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or serious injury) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as the threat call was made from a phone number registered in his name. 
 
Khan, often called King Khan by his fans, had received a death threat in October 2023 as well- after the success of his two films - Pathaan and Jawan.&nbsp; 
 
The Mumbai Police had then upped the actor's security cover, giving him a Y+ security blanket. Khan was accompanied by six armed personnel around the clock; earlier he had two security personnel, also armed, accompanying him.
