The Senators community on Capitol Hill on Tuesday heard Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's five-hour long testimony where lawmakers criticised the social network for how it exploits its users’ data and for the leak of information of&nbsp;87 million users to the research firm Cambridge Analytica. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The Senate committee exchanged a brief moment of laughter, however, when Dan Sullivan, Republican Senator from Alaska took over and spoke to Zuckerburg about the underlining issues.

Wearing a dark suit and tie instead of his typical T-shirt and jeans, Zuckerberg appeared largely unruffled as senators questioned him. Senators welcomed his performance.&nbsp;

"Mr. Zuckerberg, quite a story, right?&nbsp;Dorm room to the global behemoth that you guys are. Only in America, would you agree with that?," he asked. While interuptting as Zuckerberg spoke, Sullivan added "You couldn't do this in China, right? What you did?"&nbsp;

Zuckerberg, seeming ever-so-slightly hesitant replied "Well, senator, there are some very strong Chinese internet companies."

Sullivan, in a quirk, said "Right but, you're supposed to answer 'yes' to this question. I mean, give me a break. You're in front of a bunch of senators. The answer is yes, okay, so thank you," breaking into laughter along with the rest of the committee.

There were some other awkward moments involving top Democratic senator Dick Durbin, when he initially asked him which hotel he stayed at the night before to which Zuckerberg, after a long pause, refused to share.&nbsp;

The audience and panel of senators erupted in laughter at Zuckerberg's hesitancy to answer questions about his personal activities.

If that was not enough, Durbin then went on to ask him "If you messaged anybody this week, would you share with us the names of the people you've messaged?."

But, Zuckerberg playing along with the personal question replied ""Senator, no, I would probably not choose to do that publicly here."&nbsp;

"I think that might be what this is all about," Durbin told Zuckerberg. "Your right to privacy, the limits of your right to privacy, and how much you'd give away in modern America."

Meanwhile, Facebook Inc shares posted their biggest daily gain in nearly two years on Tuesday (April 10) as Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg fended off questions from U.S. senators on how the world's largest social network might be regulated more closely.
