<p>The unique bond between Tata and Naidu, the youngest General Manager at Tata, flourished through their mutual affection for animals. They first met in 2014 when Naidu created reflective collars to safeguard stray dogs from night-time traffic accidents. Tata liked Naidu’s effort to save dogs on the road and invited Naidu to join his team.</p>

<p>Since then, Naidu has become a close and trusted friend to Tata, who never married and had no children but treated the 31-year-old as his son.</p>

<p>Naidu was born and raised in Pune and started working with Tata in May 2022.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He holds an engineering degree from Savitribai Phule University and an MBA from Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management. He began his career as an automobile design engineer at Tata Elxsi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Naidu and Tata’s business mindset also have the commonality of profit for a cause. In September 2022, Naidu founded Goodfellows, a Mumbai-based startup that connects senior citizens with young people, called “grandpals,” who have emotional intelligence and empathy.</p>

<p>The start-up was inspired by Naidu’s realisation that senior citizens often feel lonely and need companionship. The venture is now reportedly valued at Rs 5 crore and it was Ratan Tata and his company that invested in the start-up initially.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Naidu has also written a book, ‘I Came Upon a Lighthouse, ' a short memoir about his life with Ratan Tata.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A stampede-like situation ensued outside Mumbai's National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) on Thursday, where people had gathered to pay their last respects to Ratan Tata, who passed away late Wednesday at the Breach Candy Hospital. Due to the growing crowd, the Mumbai Police had to conduct a lathi charge to manage the situation.</p>

<p>Ratan Tata’s mortal remains were taken from the NCPA to Worli for his final rites. His body was kept at the NCPA in South Mumbai for public viewing from 10:30 am to 3:55 pm.</p>

<p>The Mumbai Police gave him a ceremonial guard of honour at the Parsi crematorium, where the last rites were performed. His coffin, wrapped in the Indian flag, was escorted by a guard of honour, accompanied by a marching band playing trumpets and drums during the procession.</p>

<p>Several dignitaries, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, joined the procession, escorting the hearse to the Parsi crematorium in Worli. They were accompanied by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, and other prominent leaders for the final ceremony.</p>

I am a regular Air India traveller and I am sure the ‘Maharaja’ will be in action as they are getting their new planes coming into service…”</p>

<p>In response to Tata’s passing, the Maharashtra government declared Thursday, October 10, a day of mourning, cancelling all state events for the day.</p>

<p>Maharashtra Minister Deepak Kesarkar, after visiting Breach Candy Hospital, said, "All state government programmes in Mumbai have been cancelled for tomorrow due to the death of industrialist Ratan Tata."</p>

<p>Likewise, the Gujarat government announced a one-day state mourning on Thursday in memory of Ratan Tata, who passed away on Wednesday night in Mumbai.</p>

<p>On Wednesday (Oct 9), Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of one of India's biggest conglomerates, Tata Sons, passed away at the age of 86. The news of his health deteriorating had been doing the rounds for a few days. He was admitted to the intensive care of the Breach Candy&nbsp;Hospital in Mumbai early in the evening before the legend passed away.</p>

<p>N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Group, said in a statement, "It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation."</p>

<p>"On behalf of the entire Tata family, I extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones. His legacy will continue to inspire us as we strive to uphold the principles he so passionately championed," he added.</p>

<p>Ratan Tata's passing away led to reactions pouring in from all corners. The Indian sporting fraternity&nbsp;also joined in with&nbsp;senior men's cricket team captain Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Shubman Gill, javelin superstar Neeraj Chopra, Venkatesh Prasad and Saina Nehwal reacting to the demise.</p>

<h2><strong>Who was Ratan Tata?</strong></h2>

<p>Tata took over as the chairman of the autos-to-steel conglomerate in 1991. He&nbsp;ran the group which was founded by his great-grandfather, Jamshedji Tata more than a hundred years ago. In 1996, he founded the telecommunications company Tata Teleservices and took over&nbsp;the IT company Tata Consultancy Services public after eight years.</p>

<p>After resigning, in 2012, Tata was conferred with the title of chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, Tata Industries, Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Tata Chemicals, as per the company website. During his tenure,&nbsp;the Tata Group achieved many highs, by acquiring Jaguar Land Rover, Tetley, and Corus.&nbsp;In addition, he&nbsp;introduced a retirement policy for directors over 75 years old.</p>

<p>Tata,&nbsp;who received the Padma Bhushan in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, was a&nbsp;visionary industrialist and philanthropist. He&nbsp;was&nbsp;also known&nbsp;for his kind nature and social work.</p>

<p>As a picture showing a stray dog resting at the hotel's entrance to&nbsp;the famous property gained massive attention, it was revealed that Tata has issued strict instructions to treat the stray dogs humanely.</p>

<p>The viral photo of dogs sleeping at the hotel entrance was shared on LinkedIn by an HR professional Rubi Khan, who was shocked to see a stray dog sleeping in the lobby of&nbsp;one of India's most renowned hotels.<br />

<p>Upon inquiry, Khan discovered that Mr Tata had issued ''strict instructions'' to treat all animals with respect. And, the dog in the picture&nbsp;has been part of the hotel since birth.</p>

<p>"My curiosity led me to ask the hotel staff about him, and I learned that he has been a part of the hotel since birth. There are strict instructions from Mr Ratan Tata to treat these animals well if they enter the premises," Rubi wrote in her LinkedIn post back then.&nbsp;</p>
