More than 2 lakh people voted in the Parliamentary Elections of the country and 326 candidates were in the fray for 93 seats – this included six new seats. The current ruling party in Maldives, People’s National Congress (PNC) contested 90 seats and the preliminary results say that the party has won more than 60 seats, roughly two-thirds of the total seats.
