Pakistan's Federal Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiative imposed a ban on officials sitting idle till late in the office of the ministry.&nbsp;

The directive was issued after it was noticed that the officials have been staying in the office beyond&nbsp;their duty hours to just use the air conditioners and enjoy the chill environment in the offices.

The Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiative issued a letter, which was titled 'Idle late sitting in office', on Wednesday (July 3) and warned that&nbsp;disciplinary action will be taken against the violators, said the official source to The Nation.&nbsp;

“It has been observed with great concern that some officers/officials of the Ministry have been staying late in the office just to utilize the air-conditioning facility while not engaged in any official work/assignment,” read the letter.

"All the officers/officials are, therefore, directed to leave the office well on time or ensure that any extended stay in the office beyond the working hours is justified by legitimate work requirements," it added.

"Failure to compliance with above instructions may lead to initiation of disciplinary proceedings against delinquent officers/officials."

Meanwhile, an official told&nbsp;The Nation&nbsp;"that some officers/official are required to stay for late hours owing to their jobs nature and hectic work load. However, some are sitting idle and waiting for sun sit for their departure from the ministry."

Pakistan's government has raised the taxes by 40 per cent, which was the highest on record. The increase was part of the national budget introduced last week which was aimed at meeting conditions proposed by the International Monetary Fund for getting a new bailout.

As the country battles its economic woes, milk prices increased by more than a fifth in Pakistan after the government introduced a new 'milk tax' which made the dairy staple costlier than it is in Australia, France and other developed countries.
