Pakistan is hosting an international conference in Geneva with the help of the United Nations to generate international support for a $16 billion rebuilding effort in the country following last year's devastating floods.

Miftah Ismail, Pakistan's finance minister, took to Twitter on Sunday (September 25) to announce his resignation. Ismail said that in meeting with Mian Nawaz Sharif and the prime minister (Shahbaz Sharif), he has already "verbally" resigned and will be submitting a formal resignation once he reaches Pakistan.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an informal meeting with the US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the UNGA. This is the first meeting between the two leaders. Earlier, during his UNGA address, Biden urged the world to help Pakistan which is still 'underwater'.
